Creating a contemporary brand from a blank canvas.

Background

Bath Contemporary is a Bath based gallery with a portfolio of established contemporary artists, sculptors, ceramicists, and emerging talent who have a great future in the arts. Having recently changed their name from Bath Fine Art the gallery was looking for a clasically modern identity that would enable them to attract a larger mix of talent and customers to the gallery.

What we did

Based on the idea that the gallery is a frame for great work, we produced an innovative identity that used a holding device. By framing the word ‘contemporary’ we were able to add the areas that the gallery specialised in. The new identity was applied to exhibition brochures, signage (where we literally framed the window), artist cards and website.

Did it work?

The new logo, along with a very modern colour palette, positioned the gallery as a leader in its field. Bath Contemporary’s most recent show with Neil Pinkett has been their most sucessful to date. Feedback from customers has been postive and a number of new and exciting artists are approaching the gallery to exhibit their work
